Reweaving or reknitting is the way for repairing of damaged woven fabrics or knitted fabrics. Many woven or weft knitted fabrics can be reweaved or reknitted.

Our head office is in Canterbury, NSW, we can service all of the people in Australia. For the people who can not visit our shop in person, we can provide our services with delieverly.

We do the reweaving or reknitting with the use of the special hand tools and skills with hands. Either a new section of material is taken from a hidden area of the garment and used for the repairing. This is done with the use of the special hand tools and skills with hands. Either a new section of material is taken from a hidden area of the garment and used for the repair, or replacement threads are directly woven into the damaged area.

Once the new section from the reweaving or reknitting is created and is woven or knitted into the fabric at the area surrounded the damaged place, or replacement threads are directly woven into the damaged area, the resulting repair, in most cases is not easy to perceivable by the naked eye.

After the new section is woven into the fabric, the repair begins to appear seamless. Even with a fine weave, the result can be nearly perfect.

Reweaving or reknitting is an old art, and some secrecy has always surrounded it. In olden days reweaving or reknitting was practiced only by the master craftsman handed down through their families. These families guarded their secret closely because it is their important means of livelihood. They were proud of their knowledge and their skills. They pass their secrets only to those people who they believed were most sincere and most able to carry on their tradition of the fine workmanship. The only exceptions were people who paid huge sums of money in order to receive knowledge of the art. Every novice reweaver had to spend years as an apprentice. Today, as a result of modernization, the fine hand skill of reweaving has almost become lost. Therefore there is only few people having the knowledge and the skills to perform this very old art of fabric repair/ reweaving.

Most of the garments we repair have damage resulted from the moth. When a garment is hung in a closet for storage, moths find a nesting place on the wool or silk or cashmere.etc. The wool is a very nice food for the moth and their babies when they hatch. Cashmere is especially vulnerable, because moths are attracted to the finer fibers of this type of wool.

PREVENTION

The best defense is a good offense. ALWAYS HAVE YOUR GARMENTS CLEANED before store it. In addition to cleaning, storing your garments in an environment that is dry and smells with cedar scent will keep moths away. Cedar chips or blocks will do the trick. Be aware that when the cedar looses its scent its effectiveness for repelling moths is also lost. Cedar chips or blocks or similar products with the same functions can be purchased at many department store or supermarket or chemical shop.
